KYCK 2011

Meet the Team

Steve Wakeford - Chairman

A former NSW Police Officer, Steve is now the pastor of SNC - the Saturday night congregation at Menai Anglican. He loves his ute, pig shooting, his three boys Ben, Nochi and Dan, his wife Nonie and Jesus - in reverse order of significance!

Steve is madly passionate about leading a new generation of young men who will take their place serving those around them, treating women with respect and dignity and reaching a lost world for Jesus.

Chris Aynsley

Chris is looking forward to being involved in KYCK for the first time this year. He works as a maths and Christian studies teacher and loves being able to share the gospel with his students. Chris is an avid and almost famous ping pong player with his biggest highlight as a feature player in some videos on YouTube.

Kirrily Aynsley

Kirrily went to KYCK every year as she was growing up. She is excited to be back at KYCK after some time away to see how the Gospel impacts other high school students as it did for her. She is now working as a high school Christian Studies and PDHPE teacher.

Jeremy Dunne

Jeremy became a Christian at KYCK in 2000 and is now the Youth Pastor at Christ Church Gladesville. He  got married (2 weeks after KYCK10 #3!) to Mel and is looking forward to serving at church. For kicking back he enjoys mixed netball, physical culture and yu-gi-oh...

Melissa Dunne

Melissa went to KYCK conference every year she was in high school and now loves the opportunity to be involved with the committee for the conference that laid the foundations for her as a young christian. She has been married to Jeremy for nearly two years now and they are expecting baby no.1 a month before KYCK 2013! She can't wait to see the way lives will be changed this year at KYCK!

Stephen "Beaver" Karas

God "smashed Steve in the face" with the gospel of Jesus in Year 9 at high school. Since finishing high school Steve has worked in a number of fields while searching for God's plan for his life. This has lead him to take up full time study at Anglican Youthworks Bible College where he says "this is where I definitely feel God has been directing me over the past couple of years. I'm stoked it's in the direction of full-time ministry".

Steve is a fun-loving guy who is passionate about telling people about Jesus and maturing disciples to serve and love Him faithfully. Steve loves meeting new people and his idea of a good time is an afternoon with mates, cricket, and a couple of VBs in the sun. Steve serves as the youth worker at Menai Baptist Church.

You can ask him his story about how he came to be stuck with the name "Beaver" when you meet him!

Sam Low

I became a Christian when I was 14 and ever since then I've known that I wanted to spend my life helping other people meet Jesus as well. I spent 6 years doing youth ministry in a local church and loved every minute of it, teenagers are the most fun, now I'm at Bible College so KYCK is the new opportunity God has given me to sow into young people. At my first KYCK and I was blown away by how big it was and what a great opportunity it was for people to give their lives to Jesus. The Bible teaching was solid and everything about KYCK is about Jesus. Can't wait to be a part of this year!

Gav Mork

Gav is married to Kate and has two children, Jett and Indiana. Having originally aspired to be an astronaut, he currently serves at Christ Church Gladesville as the evening church pastor. Gav loves KYCK because he loves seeing people come to love Jesus more. On his days off he pursues a greater knowledge of dolphins and other aquatic mammals, and enjoys smashing sweet treats!

Tashi Nicholas

Tashi is doing a youth ministry internship at St Paul's Anglican Chatswood. She became a Christian when she was 17 years old through a relgion class. Ever since she loved seeing people take Jesus as their Lord and Saviour.  Besides the internship, Tashi is in her last year of a visual arts degree at Sydney Uni, and is planning on going to Bible College next year.

Andrew Stevenson

KYCK for me is about new life beginnings and change. At the 1st KYCK(start) conference I was young at 13 but keen to go. My leaders took me along and said it would help my faith develop and while there, Jesus broke into my heart in the form of a Bible talk that penetrated my heart and changed my life and I am thank you God rescued me!

I have been to every kyck since becoming a Christian and love it and strongly in believe in it's ministry. They are effective because people have come to the Kingdom for eternity from the ministry KYCK has facilitated. I have seen friends, fellow youth, family, youth group members and youth newcomers become Christians at KYCK and go forward in faith with world changing lives.

In my various roles in youth ministry as a youth minister and Anglican Youthworks High School Ministry trainer and Recruiter for the last 10 years, I would  say KYCK is one of most significant, well developed and attended youth conference in the year and a must for any Churches youth ministry calendar!
